She emerged with a goal to build a bridge between research methods, research involvement and public engagement, where the public is trained and empowered to be equal partners in health research. Amy's goal is to mentor others to build clear channels to propel evidence into practice by supplying the public, and those in low resource areas, with tools to make evidence-based healthcare choices. Amy’s experience has shown her that shared knowledge, interdisciplinary collaboration and evidence-based research will shape and develop the future.

PG DAV College, Sec-10, ChandigarhDr. Raina is an Assistant Professor in Zoology carrying out teaching and research at Post-Graduate DAV College, Sec-10, Chandigarh India. He completed his Ph.D. in Zoology from Panjab University Chandigarh, probing the role of metacaspase and heat shock protein 70 genes in the programmed cell death process in Leishmania donovani. The study entailed manual design of antisense oligonucleotides for carrying out gene knockdown. He has an experience of 15+ years of teaching undergraduate and postgraduate classes in the field of Zoology at the college and University levels. His research interests include intracellular pathogens, infection biology, vaccine design, immunometabolism, design of small molecule inhibitors, and herbal medicine. Current research in his lab is focused on searching for novel therapeutic agents against visceral leishmaniasis. His research lab has received funding from SERB, DST, New Delhi, and CSIR, New Delhi. Dr. Raina has delivered invited talks on intracellular pathogens, vaccination, and immunology. Dr. Raina is a life member of the Indian Science Congress Association (Kolkata), the National Academy of Vector Borne Diseases (Orissa), and Chandigarh Vigyan Parishad (Vigyan Bharati).

He has approximately 15 years of research experience with around four years of Postdoctoral experience at the Burnham Institute for Medical Research (BIMR), University of California (UCSD), San Diego, USA; four years of industry experience, as a first generation bioinformatics techno-preneur and eight years of regular teaching experience. His current focus is on bringing together the best of available traditional knowledge, alternative schools of medicine (AYUSH) and modern molecular information to create an Integrative Translational System of Medicine, which solves the ailments permanently.

He received his first Post- Doctoral researchas an FAPESP research fellow in the Dept. of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology. Subsequently he did a second Post-Doctoral research as research fellow of NSBRI/NASA (USA). He was also awarded third Post-Doctoral fellowship of the National Research Council (NRC, Canada). He is a Founder of the Stem Cell Research program which is highly relevant to Defence applications for the first time in DRDO & he is founder of the Division of Stem Cell Research in DRDO/INMAS, Defence Science Forum, selection committees of Research Fellows, DRDS-Scientists in RAC (DRDO) and Outside organizations and Core-member of DRDS assessment committees/Board at RAC (DRDO, Delhi).
